Multifactorial. I was drawn to the technical nature of the operations, the diversity of the interventions that allow personalization of treatment, and the use and multimodality of the imaging. The nature of relationships built with patients through the bond created when they trust and allow you to perform an arterial intervention and guide them through a challenging problem and subsequent follow-up. And of course, mentorship was a critical driver, aspiring to be an ethical, technically sound, surgeons’ surgeon such as my mentors Nam Tran, Ben Starnes, Robert Hancock, and Mark Eskandari.
