2025 MVSS Traveling Fellowship
The Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society is accepting applications for the 2025 Traveling Fellowship. The deadline to submit your application and supporting documentation is Monday, July 14, 2025.
The purpose of this Fellowship is to provide the recipient with the opportunity to travel to another institution or practice in the Continental U.S. to observe a unique program of interest to the recipient. The overall aims of the Scholarship are to improve the delivery of quality care to patients with vascular disease on a larger scale, to develop unique educational or treatment programs, and to cultivate collaborative research opportunities.
The Scholarship is in the amount of $5,000 to be used toward the cost of travel, housing and food.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
- Active MVSS members in good standing. (Other MVSS Membership categories are not eligible.)
- Both community and academic vascular surgeons are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants should have an interest in changing or supplementing their current practice with one or more of the purposes listed above.
- Officers of the Society are not eligible for the award. Councilors and Committee Members may apply. Additionally, previous Traveling Fellowship recipients are ineligible for the award.
Review and Reward Process
Completed applications will undergo blinded review by the MVSS Executive Council. Priority will be given to applications that demonstrate originality, define attainable goals, provide evidence of strong support from the host institution, and offer the greatest benefit to those suffering from vascular disease. The Executive Council reserves the right not to award the Traveling Fellowship if submissions are not in line with the guidelines. Previous Traveling Fellowship recipients will be ineligible for future awards, but prior applicants are encouraged to re-apply. The Fellowship recipient will be announced at the 2025 Annual Meeting.
Fellowship Report/Presentation at the 2026 Annual Meeting
The award recipient will be required to give a presentation of their traveling fellowship experience to the membership at the Society’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL: September 17-19, 2026. This should include details on how the recipient used the acquired information to improve the care of vascular patients on a larger scale, further the education of future vascular surgeons, or improve research capabilities.
2025 Diversity in Vascular Surgery Medical Student Research Scholarship
The purpose of this award is to support a research project to an MVSS Medical Student Member who is considered underrepresented in medicine based on racial or ethnic background, socioeconomic status, disability, sex or gender, sexual identity or rural background. Application requirements include submission of a research proposal (500 word maximum), curriculum vitae and letter of support from a faculty research mentor. The research mentor must be a member of the society in good standing.
The Research Award is in the amount of $3,000.
The award recipient will be required to give a presentation of their of their research project to the membership at the Society’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL: September 17-19, 2025.
